  • About

The Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens was established in 1980. It consists of 57 acres and is located at 3800 Arboretum Drive, Dubuque, Iowa. Admission is free and the grounds are open year-round from 7 a.m. to dusk, welcoming around 55,000 visitors from all over the world each year. The Arboretum was created and is maintained entirely by volunteers and two staff members. Currently, we have around 350 volunteers who help in our gift shop, office, gardens, maintenance, planning, and operations. The Arboretum is a popular spot in the community for outdoor weddings, concerts, and special events. The Arboretum includes the following gardens: Herbs, Hostas, Roses, Annuals and Perennials, Cacti, Prairie, Wildflowers, Hydrangeas, Children's Gardens, Garden of Eat'n, Japanese Garden and Koi Pond, Formal English Garden, Union Park Garden, Ornamental Tree, and Shrub Collections, and Conifer Collections. There are also wooded hiking trails. The Dubuque Arboretum's beauty is something we all can cherish - thanks to the valuable hours from our volunteers and generous grants and donations that have been provided. The Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens' mission is to establish, preserve and maintain an arboretum and botanical garden to be a source of information, education, culture, and beauty for all to know.
