Area Substance Abuse Council (ASAC) is a private, nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. ASAC is licensed by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services to provide prevention and treatment services to combat the abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. ASAC is accredited by CARF which requires conformance to quality standards that identify areas for improvement and growth and help provider focus on quality service delivery and patient satisfaction. ASAC is one of the largest and most comprehensive substance abuse prevention and treatment agencies in Iowa. ASAC has been in operation since 1962. The organization serves the seven counties of Linn, Benton, Jones, Jackson, Clinton, Dubuque and Delaware County in Iowa.
