A community partner since 1946.
DuTrac was founded by John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works employees who wanted to offer their coworkers an alternative to commercial banks and other for-profit financial institutions. With one office within the plant, 56 members, and a little over $2,000 in deposits and outstanding loans of $1,195, DuTrac became a reality in 1946.
Today, we serve individuals and families in a 34-county area and continue to be a not-for-profit cooperative, existing solely to serve over 50,000 members rather than to maximize corporate profits. That means any profits earned are returned to the members in the form of lower loan rates and higher deposit rates—unlike a bank where profits go into the pockets of investors and stockholders. When you become a DuTrac member, you also become an owner.
