Join us for the YP Virtual Monthly Luncheon held on the third Wednesday of each month. Young Professionals of Dubuque (YPD) has a current membership of over 2,000 members. YP luncheons feature a presentation on professional, personal or community development.
Our June presenter is Kyle Lane, owner of The Comedy Bar with locations in Dubuque, Chicago, and Nashville. Kyle will share his presentation, "Bombing: The Art of Embracing Failure". True success, especially at a younger age, is all about learning from your mistakes.
Ohio-native, Kyle Lane, started his comedy career in Chicago at the young age of 19. Having moved there to pursue a career in dramatic acting, he quickly discovered his passion for stand up within the vibrant comedy scene in the city. Lane immediately began producing his own shows at local bars and theaters, even taking classes at the Second City, a world-renowned school for the comedy arts.
Although acting and performing were his original passion, Lane soon learned that producing and the business of comedy were his true calling. After running independent shows for several years, in 2011, he established The Comedy Bar which offered guests an elevated comedy club experience, providing Chicago’s local stand up scene with a professional stage to cultivate their talents. Lane’s shows have featured many well-known names in the business today, including TJ Miller, Hannibal Buress, Kumail Nanjiani, Lil Rel Howery, Dan Aykroyd and Robert Belushi, just to name a few.
Today, Lane has opened two additional clubs in Nashville and Dubuque and is working to expand The Comedy Bar brand to other markets within the US. In addition to his comedy businesses, Lane is also involved in the film industry, having executive produced “Dylan” which was featured in the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival in 2018 and is the reason The Comedy Bar was introduced to Dubuque in the first place!
