Event Description:
The Dubuque Area Chamber will host the State of the City breakfast on Friday, September 13, 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM, at Hotel Julien in the Grande Ballroom, featuring Dubuque mayor, Brad Cavanagh.

Mayor Cavanagh will be sharing community investments, achievements, and plans to prepare Dubuque for the next generation. State of the City 2024 provides a great opportunity for attendees to be informed on the relevant issues of our community.

Chamber members must register to attend, registration includes breakfast.

Brad Cavanagh was elected as Mayor in November 2021. Previously, he served on the Dubuque City Council representing the city’s Fourth Ward beginning in 2019.

Brad is a social worker with over 20 years of experience working in a variety of practice settings with diverse populations. He spent the last decade at Loras College in Dubuque as an associate professor of social work. He holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in social work from Saint Louis University. Brad and his wife, Jennifer, have two sons.

 

Brad is a Dubuque native and has served his hometown in several ways since returning to Dubuque in 2008. Prior to his election to City Council, he was a member of the Dubuque Housing Commission, served as Vice Chairman of the Dubuque County Food Policy Council, was a board member for the Fountain of Youth, served as Chair of the Guiding Coalition for the city’s Circles Initiative, and is a co-founder of Resources Unite. As Mayor, Brad serves on the boards of Dubuque Initiatives, the Dubuque Racing Association, the Greater Dubuque Development Corporation, Travel Dubuque, and the America’s River Board. Brad also serves on the Executive Board of the Iowa League of Cities and is a member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
