Name: Heritage Day
Date: July 4, 2021
Time: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM CDT
Event Description:

We are excited to announce that this July 4th Heritage Day returns as an in-person event at the Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums, with programming from 9:00am until 5:00pm. This year we celebrate a milestone anniversary: 40 Years of Heritage Day!

The first Heritage Day at the Museums was held in 1981 to celebrate Rollo Jamison’s collection coming to Platteville and was such a hit that we have continued the tradition ever since. On this milestone Heritage Day, we invite everyone to come celebrate Platteville’s pioneering spirit, rich history, and bright future. Visitors can enjoy for free a variety of practical demonstrations including mechanical music boxes, player pianos, and hit and miss engines, and will enjoy 19th century games such as hoops, horseshoes, stilts, and soap bubble strings.

The fabulous Wundo Band will provide live music from 12:00 to 4:00. Arts and crafts activities will also be on offer. Food will be available to purchase, and visitors are welcome to enjoy our normal museum programming, guided mine tours, and train rides.
