The City of Dubuque Sustainability Department has partnered with paleBLUEdot to host a Youth Climate Action Workshop on Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Fellowship Hall, 2155 University Avenue.
The City invites youth to be a part of a design thinking workshop centered on empowering youth to create their own ongoing sustainable plan for climate action. The workshop is a part of the City’s community engagement process for the update to the Climate Action Plan – 50% by 2030. The goal is to ensure that the voice of Dubuque’s youth is heard and reflected in the updated plan.
This workshop is designed for ages 10-17 and encourages students to take action in the fight against global climate change. Students will participate in group discussions to define the challenge, envision possibilities, prototype their designs and test them. The workshop is free to attend and does not require prior design skills or knowledge. Parents or those who work with youth are welcome to attend. Registration is encouraged, but not required. There will be pizza, snacks and "goodie bags" for participants.
