Young Professionals of Dubuque (YPD) has a current membership of over 2,000 members, with a monthly participation of over 150 members attending YP Luncheons. YP luncheons feature a presentation on professional, personal or community development.

We are now in the era of do-it-yourself career development. Companies less frequently offer formal training — a trend that has been around for years (Harvard Business Review). Although it would be nice to rely on corporate development tracts, the reality is that the bigger burden is on employees. Workers at all levels must learn to identify their weaknesses, uncover their blind spots, and strengthen their skills.
