Dave Klavitter is chief marketing officer of Dupaco Community Credit Union, a member-owned financial cooperative started in 1948 by 10 employees of the Dubuque Packing Company. He will be presenting at our May Power Hour, “Dupaco Voices Rise in the Historic Millwork District.” After an exhaustive two-year search for a new operations center, Dupaco determined revitalizing a historic building in the heart of Dubuque ultimately would provide the most economic value to its more than 115,000 members, offer the best experience for current and future employees, and have the greatest positive impact on the community.

Klavitter returned home to Dubuque in 2009, after working as vice president of editorial communication for the Credit Union National Association in Washington, D.C. He serves on the City of Dubuque Historic Preservation Commission, and is a founding board member of Heritage Works, which leverages architectural heritage to drive community revitalization and economic development. Klavitter earned a BA in public relations and journalism from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa and an MBA from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
