Event Description:

Celebrating its 25th season, the "Summer Organ Concert" series at Sinsinawa Mound will open the 2016 series at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 1. Guest musicians share their talents Wednesday evenings June through August. A freewill offering is accepted and everyone is welcome. Concert attendees will be treated to seven familiar artists as well as seven new artists over the course of the summer.

The first guest artist will be Pablo Gorin of Iowa City, Iowa, in his inaugural concert at Sinsinawa. He is a teaching and research assistant of organ at the University of Iowa, where he is working on his doctorate in music and earned a master's degree in organ and keyboard harmony. Gorin has performed in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Iowa, as well as Germany and Argentina.

Recent performances have included pieces in the continuo style by J. S. Bach, Mozart, Handel and Monteverdi. Born in Argentina, Gorin's talents flourished from the age of six when he made his public debut under the guidance of Maestro Domingo Scarafia. He later studied with Arminda Canteros in New York; Aldo Antognazzi in Buenos Aires; Ivan Davis and Kemal Gekic in Miami; James Kibbie in Ann Arbor, MI; and Gregory Hand in Iowa City. He has worked in Miami, Detroit, and Iowa City with various soloists, churches, choirs and orchestras.

The Motherhouse for the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters, is located in southwest Wisconsin on County Road Z, off Highway 11, about five miles northeast of Dubuque.
