Name: Documentary Film "Terra Firma"
Date: September 25, 2014
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Annually in September, people across the globe are invited to celebrate and work toward peace in the world through the United Nation's International Day of Peace. Celebrating and finding peace when you have served in the Armed Forces and come home with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can seem at odds. How do they fit together?

"Terra Firma," a documentary film about women who have served in Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan, weaves together the stories of three female veterans, the aftereffects of war, and how agriculture plays a role in their healing process.

The film is being shown at Sinsinawa Mound, Sinsinawa, Wis., at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, as part of the two-week Dubuque Festival Celebrating the United Nations International Day of Peace. It is open to the public and free to all. A discussion with one of the featured women will follow the movie.
