Event Description:
Advent is a time for listening in our hearts but we may be too busy to be attentive. The weekend will focus on practical suggestions for slowing down and applying contemplative values and practices to everyday life. We will explore the Advent themes of light and darkness through the visual sculptures on display.

Presenters: Trisha Day and Iowa City artist Mary Merkel-Hess. Trisha Day is the author of Inside the School of Charity: Lessons from the Monastery and a frequent contributor to Give Us This Day and Daily Prayer for Today's Catholics. Mary Merkel-Hess is an Iowa City artist whose work is on exhibit in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other galleries in the Midwest.
