Shalom Spirituality Center is hosting a mini-retreat titled: Hope and Inspiration: Spiritual Support for Alzheimer's and Dementia Caregivers from 5:30 to 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 30. This evening is designed specifically for those who love and care for someone who has Alzheimer's or another form of dementia. The evening will begin with a tasty and nourishing supper, followed by the mini-retreat. Reverend Dr. Jade Angelica will lead the group in exploring spirituality as a way of finding healing in the face of an incurable illness.
Participants will have the opportunity to acknowledge and share their feelings of confusion, frustration and grief with others who understand. By exploring our images of God and identifying our fears regarding Alzheimer's and dementia, we will uncover new ways of praying. Caregivers will feel strengthened in the realization that they are not alone on this journey.
A minimum of 15 attendees are needed to offer this program. Reverend Dr. Jade Angelica is a workshop leader and author of Where Two Worlds Touch: A Spiritual Journey Through Alzheimer's Disease.
